Fixed Output Voltage (Positive)
Lumimax's linear voltage regulator maintains a constant output voltage regardless of variations in the input voltage or the load current. It works by dissipating excess power as heat to achieve a steady output. Linear voltage regulators are commonly used in situations where power efficiency is not the primary concern but maintaining a stable voltage is critical, such as in audio equipment, low-power devices, or sensitive analog circuits. Lumimax's L78xx series are for positive regulation (e.g., L7812 for 12V output) and the L79xx series are for negative regulation.
Fixed Output Voltage (Negative)
Adjustable Output Voltage (Positive)
Lumimax P/N: LM317 is an adjustable three-terminal positive-output voltage regulator capable of supplying more than 1.5A over an output-voltage range of 1.25~37V. It requires only two external resistors to determine the output voltage. It includes current limiting, thermal overload protection, and safe operating area protection. Overload protection remains functional even if the ADJUST terminal is disconnected.
The key applications of LM317 go to Adjustable power supply, Battery chargers, Constant current source like LED driving, Voltage regulation for sensitive electronics like microcontrollers and sensors, Power supply for audio equipment, and Overvoltage and undervoltage protection, and etc.
